What’s in a name?

Why did I call this little bloggie, ‘The Front Porch’? Well, it’s simple, really. When I was growing up, the front porch was where the day seemed to end.

After supper, someone would wander outside with a glass of iced tea, and before long another chair would appear. A neighbor might stop to say hello on the way home. Someone would tell a story they’d told a dozen times before, and nobody minded hearing it again. There wasn’t much of an agenda. People simply enjoyed each other’s company. I’ve always liked that.

The Main Street Website Company is where I work. The Front Porch is where I come to sit a spell.

Some days I’ll write about old buildings or interesting websites. Other days it might be a recipe, a memory, a book I’ve been reading, or something that happened at work that stuck with me longer than I expected.

Whatever finds its way here, I hope it feels like pulling up another chair at the end of the day.

I’m glad you stopped by.

There’s always room for one more.
