Your Friendly Neighborhood Vintie

Hello! How are you, Dear? Me? Peachy-keen, Jelly Bean!

If you live around here, you probably know me as the town Vintie. Maybe The Masked Waitress. 😉

I’ve been building websites since the 1990s, which means I’ve been doing this long enough to remember when every website felt like somebody actually cared about it. Back then people weren’t chasing algorithms or trying to become influencers. They were just excited to share something they loved with the world, and I still think that’s a pretty good way to build a website.

If you’ve ever talked to me for more than five minutes, you’ve probably figured out that I live my life in 1941. A Vintie! I collect old Albany Comet yearbooks, I love local history, I love holidays, I get excited over brick Main Streets and old storefronts, and yes, I’m the weirdo with the aspirational 1941 Plymouth in her driveway – we’ve met!

One of my favorite finds was a 1948 Comet. When I got it home and started flipping through it, there was my friend Nadine Newman smiling back at me as a high school senior. I’d known Nadine since 2001, when she and her husband, Red, hired me to build their genealogy website. Somehow, finding that photograph all those years later made our little town feel even smaller, and I cannot stress enough, I mean that in a great way.

That’s one of the reasons I care so much about local businesses. I’ve had the pleasure of working at a fair few over the years, and am proud to call B&B Barbeque and Shoats my stomping grounds.

They’re more than businesses. They’re part of the story of a town.

I’m proud to call myself an American. I love my flag, my hometown, old traditions, county fairs, neighbors who wave when you drive by, and businesses where people still remember your name. People who care about other people, and I don’t think that’s corny — I think we could use a little old-fashioned right about now.

So that’s the kind of business I’ve tried to build.

When you work with me, you work with me. I answer my own emails. I answer my own messages. I’ll probably remember your dog’s name. If you have a question six months after your website launches, I’m still here.

Technology changes every year.

Treating people like their your neighbor never goes out of style.

That’s what The Main Street Website Company is all about. A little old-fashioned in a modern world — howdy, Neighbor! Meet me down on Main Street. 🙂
